The Chief Executive has extended the appointment of members of the Consultative Committee on the Core Arts & Cultural Facilities of the West Kowloon Cultural District and its three advisory groups for six months, to the end of June 2007.
The committee's chairman, Chief Secretary for Administration Rafael Hui, said since the establishment of the committee and its three advisory groups in April, there has been considerable progress in re-examining and re-confirming the core arts and cultural facilities to be provided in the district.
The Performing Arts & Tourism Advisory Group and the Museums Advisory Group have submitted their recommendations to the committee and the Financial Matters Advisory Group is now assessing the financial implications of these recommendations and aims to submit its report to the committee in early 2007.
"The latest progress indicates that there is a need to extend the appointments so as to enable the Consultative Committee and its Advisory Groups to complete their deliberations and fully accomplish their tasks," Mr Hui said.
"After re-examining the core arts and cultural facilities in the WKCD with an assessment of their financial implications, the Consultative Committee shall be in a position to advise the Government how the project should be taken forward," he added.
