Chief Executive Donald Tsang has expressed his sadness over the death of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee Member Lo Tak-shing, who died in Queen Mary Hospital on December 11 at the age of 71.
Mr Tsang, on behalf of the Government, extended his deepest condolences to Mr Lo's family.
Mr Lo was a former president of the Law Society, and had a distinguished career in law, business, publishing and public services. He contributed to Hong Kong's smooth reunification with the Mainland in his capacities as an HKSAR Preparatory Committee member, Basic Law Consultative Committee Vice Chairman and a Hong Kong Affairs Adviser.
He was a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and served as a member of both the Executive and Legislative Councils before the reunification. He was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 1997.
