Meeting the people
He visited the Vocational Training Council Youth College in So Uk Estate today. Established in 2004, the college offers full-time courses in vocational studies as well as vocational development programmes. He presented 1,000 books and CDs on a wide range of subjects to the college.
While in the estate he visited the family of dim-sum chef Wu Kin-wing and his spouse who have been living there since 1998. They have a 13-year-old daughter studying in Form 2 and a 12-year-old son in Form 1. Mr Wu gave a computer and a Fujian tea-set to the family.
He ended the day with a dinner, attended by 450 guests, at the Convention & Exhibition Centre, where he said that this is the first time the ITU has staged its triennial expo in a city other than Geneva. He will be an officiating guest at the opening ceremony.
Mr Wu will tomorrow visit AsiaWorld-Expo, the venue of ITU Telecom World 2006, and officiate at its opening ceremony at the Convention & Exhibition Centre.
