570 data requests in Q3
*

This year's third quarter saw 570 requests for information under the Code on Access to Information, bringing the total number to 21,025 since the code's introduction in March 1995, the Home Affairs Bureau says.

Of the 21,025 requests, 90% were met either in full or in part. Only 2% were refused, and 5% withdrawn. For the remaining 3%, the bureau or department concerned did not hold the requested information. At September 30 there were 44 requests being processed.

The statistics show bureaux and departments have been complying with the code to the general satisfaction of the people concerned.

In the third quarter, the Ombudsman received three complaints relating to the code. The Ombudsman decided not to take any action in one case. The other two complaints are being examined.
