Chan Kuen-kwan appointed District Councillor
*

Chan Kuen-kwan has been appointed a Sai Kung District Council member until 2008, to replace Chan Kwai-sang who died on April 4.

 

The Director of Home Affairs will declare the appointment by notice in the Gazette tomorrow.

 

Under the District Councils Ordinance, the Chief Executive may appoint another people to hold office as an appointed member if a vacancy arises from the death of the appointed member.

 

Meanwhile, the Director of Home Affairs will also declare in the Gazette that the office of Tang Lai-ming, an elected member of the Eastern District Council, has become vacant. It became vacant on June 16 following his resignation, and a by-election will be arranged by the Registration & Electoral Office within three months.
