Rise in election committee voters expected
*

The Registration & Electoral Office says the number of registered voters for Election Committee sub-sectors is forecast to rise from 200,000 last year to 220,000.

The office said the figure is based on the information validated as at June 6. It has taken into account the number of new registrations, and omission cases due to out-dated addresses, death of voters, and voters no longer eligible for registration.

The 2006 provisional registers will be published by June 15, and further information will be released then.

The deadline for registered voters to update their registration particulars is June 29. Registered voters are advised to report to the office any change in address or other registration particulars by the deadline. Otherwise, their eligibility to vote may be affected.
