Appointments

5 join Cantonese opera committee

*

Yip Shiu-tak, Wan Fei-yin, Lung Koon-tin, Marilyn To and Rex Ng have been appointed as members of the Cantonese Opera Advisory Committee, while 18 incumbents have been reappointed.

 

The terms of their appointment will be for two years from May 1.

 

The Home Affairs Bureau hopes the committee will enhance communication between the Government and opera groups and follow up items under discussion. They include the promotion and preservation of the heritage of this traditional art form, and studies on developing permanent venues for training, performances and promotional activities for the sector.

 

The new membership list is:

* Stephen Chow (Chairman);

* Chan Kim-sing;

* Professor Chan Sau-yan;

* Eva Cheng;

* Charles Chow;

* Ip Sai-hung;

* Lau Chin-shek;

* Leung Hon-wai;

* Lung Koon-tin;

* Marilyn To;

* Wen Choy-bon;

* Wan Fei-yin;

* Yip Shiu-tak;

* Representative from the Home Affairs Bureau;

* Representative from the Leisure & Cultural Services Department;

* Representative from the Education & Manpower Bureau;

* Representative from the Academy for Performing Arts;

* Representative from the Arts Development Council;

* Representative from the Tourism Board; and,

* Representative from the Schools Music & Speech Association.
