New compensation fund board members named
*

Joseph Fu, Connie Lau and Leo Ma have been appointed to the Travel Industry Compensation Fund Management Board for two years from October 15.

They will replace Pamela Chan, Florence Chan and Steven Lau who have served the board for six years or more.

Three incumbent non-official members of the board have been reappointed - Kam Pok-man, Teresa Ko and Joseph Tung.

Vivien Chan has been reappointed as Advisory Committee on Travel Agents chairman and Chan Kin-por has been reappointed a member, each for two years from November 1.

The committee and the board are statutory bodies established under the Travel Agents Ordinance. The committee advises the Government on matters relating to the regulation of the travel agent trade and on issues affecting the interests of the travel trade and consumers.

The board holds, manages and applies the Travel Industry Compensation Fund which provides ex-gratia payments to outbound travellers in the event of default of travel agents or travel accidents for packaged tours arranged by licensed travel agents.
