Chan Ka-keung to head Consumer Council
*

Professor Chan Ka-keung has been appointed Consumer Council chairman for two years from September 16.

 

Professor Chan is the Dean of the University of Science & Technology's School of Business & Management. He served on the council in 2003 and 2004.

 

The Economic Development & Labour Bureau said with his expertise in finance and management, and enthusiasm in consumer protection work, Professor Chan will provide strong leadership.

 

Meanwhile, Larry Kwok has been reappointed council vice-chairman. A practising lawyer and accountant, he has been vice-chairman since 2001.

 

The bureau said Mr Kwok has provided sound legal advice to the council, adding his professional knowledge and enthusiasm in consumer protection is of tremendous value to it.

 

The bureau also thanked Professor Andrew Chan who will retire from the council after six years' chairmanship.
