About 89% of the 553 requests for information received in the second quarter have been met, with only 12 refused, the Home Affairs Bureau says.
A total of 492 requests or 89% made under the Code on Access to Information were met, with 484 in full and eight in part. The remaining 49 included referrals to other organisations, withdrawals by applicants and requests being processed.
This brings the total number of requests received, since the code's introduction in 1995, to 18,047. Of these, 16,212 requests or 89.8% were met, with 15,842 in full and 370 in part. Only 361 requests or 2% were refused. The remaining 1,474 requests included referrals to other organisations, withdrawals by applicants and requests being processed.
The Ombudsman received one complaint relating to the code, and rendered assistance and clarification to the complainant after investigation.
Statistics show Government departments have been applying the code properly and to the public's satisfaction.
