NPCSC to examine draft interpretation
*

The National People's Congress Standing Committee will examine next week a draft interpretation of the Basic Law regarding the tenure of Hong Kong's new chief executive.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the draft interpretation of Clause 2, Article 53 of the Basic Law will be deliberated at the 15th session of the 10th NPC Standing Committee scheduled to begin on April 24 in Beijing.

Acting Chief Executive Donald Tsang submitted a report to the State Council on April 6 proposing the interpretation to clarify the tenure. The council submitted a motion to the committee on April 10, asking the committee to interpret the relevant law.
