PPRD representatives visit HK
*

A delegation of representatives from the Pan-Pearl River Delta General Co-ordination Offices of the nine provinces/areas in the Mainland and Macau will embark on a six-day duty visit to Hong Kong from today.

 

The delegation of 22 representatives includes representatives of the State Council's Hong Kong & Macau Affairs Office.

 

The Constitutional Affairs Bureau said the PPRD General Co-ordination Office of each province/area was responsible for promoting co-operation in the PPRD region.

 

Fostering closer relationships

The visit will enhance their understanding of Hong Kong's development, the bureau said, adding it will also foster closer relationships among the offices and help in exploring new co-operation opportunities.

 

The delegation will visit several government bureaux/departments including the Commerce, Industry & Technology Bureau; Environment, Transport & Works Bureau; Economic Development & Labour Bureau; Financial Services & the Treasury Bureau and Invest Hong Kong.

 

They will also visit the Trade Development Council, Hong Kong Exchange, Monetary Authority, Airport Authority, Superterminal 1 at the airport, the container terminals in Kwai Chung and the Tsing Ma Bridge. 

 

Delegation briefed on HK's latest development

The delegation will also understand more about the latest development on supportive services to trade and industry, and on cross-border transport networks, tourism, logistics, infrastructure, financial services, and the advantages of Hong Kong as a financial, logistics, tourism and services hub.

 

During the visit, the participants will take part in a directors' meeting of the PPRD Development & Reform Commissions on April 22 to discuss the preparatory work for the second PPRD Regional Co-operation & Development Forum &Trade Fair, and the key work on regional co-operation in the days ahead.

 

The PPRD region comprises nine provinces/areas in the Mainland - Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan - and Hong Kong and Macau.
