HK-Bulgaria visa-free deal

Strengthened ties: Director of Immigration Lai Tung-kwok (right) signed the visa-free agreement with Bulgaria's Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Petkov.

*

Hong Kong and Bulgaria have signed an agreement on abolition of visa requirements that will provide visa-free access to passport holders of either place for a stay of 90 days.

Director of Immigration Lai Tung-kwok today signed the agreement with Bulgaria's Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Petkov.

The agreement will enter into force in about two months.

Mr Lai said the agreement affords greater convenience for Hong Kong travellers and helps promote trade, business and tourism links between Hong Kong and Bulgaria.

He added this has brought the total number of countries/territories agreeing to grant visa-free access to Hong Kong passport holders to 134.
