The United Nations Sanctions (Sudan) Regulation has been gazetted today. The regulation implements sanctions against Sudan in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1556.

The regulation prohibits:

* the supply, delivery and carriage of arms and related materials to any non-governmental entity or individual, including the Janjaweed, operating in the states of North Darfur, South Darfur and West Darfur of Sudan; and,

* the provision to the above entity or individual of technical assistance or training related to the supply, delivery, manufacture, maintenance or use of arms and related materials.
