Southern District by-election on March 20
*

Eligible voters are urged to vote in the Southern District Council Ap Lei Chau North Constituency by-election on March 20. Five candidates will run in the by-election  to compete for one vacant seat in the council.

 

They are:

*Petrus Chan (ex-vice president of a commercial banking body);

* Cheung Sik-yung (secretary);

* Wan Kam-cheung (property manager, Democratic Party);

* Ng Ting-kit (executive officer, Liberal Party); and

* Chiu Kwing-shing (registered professional engineer).

 

Two polling stations - one at Ap Lei Chau Sports Centre, 8 Hung Shing Street, Ap Lei Chau, and the other at Hong Kong True Light College, 1 Lei Tung Estate Road, Ap Lei Chau, will be open to voters from 7.30am to 10.30pm.

 

Poll cards have been sent to more than 7,200 electors. They should check their poll card to see which polling station to visit.

 

The two polling stations will also be used as counting stations after the close of the poll. Ap Lei Chau Sports Centre will be the dominant counting station, where the results of the by-election will be announced.

 

An election hotline, 2891 1001, will be in service from 7am to 11pm tomorrow to answer enquiries relating to electoral matters, including the location of polling stations. A complaints hotline, 2827 7251, will also be in operation from 7.30am to 10.30pm to handle complaints about breaches of electoral rules and guidelines.
