By-election still on, despite candidate death

*

Only three candidates will stand in the Eastern District Council Fort Street Constituency by-election after the sudden death of the fourth candidate Chu Hon-wah today. The Registration & Electoral Office said the poll will go ahead as planned on March 6.

The three candidates are administrative executive Chris Wong of the Democratic Party, lawyer Barry Chin of the Civic Association, and schoolteacher Hung Lin-cham of the Democratic Alliance for Betterment of Hong Kong.

About 7,300 registered electors can vote at the polling station at Kiangsu and Chekiang Primary School, 30 Ching Wah Street, North Point. The polling station will open from 7.30am to 10.30pm. After the close of the poll, it will be used as counting station. The successful candidate will fill one vacant seat in the Eastern District Council.
