Eight candidates will stand in the Eastern District Council's Fort Street Constituency and the Sham Shui Po District Nam Cheong Central Constituency by-elections on March 6.

Poll cards for the two elections have been sent to registered electors. Those who have not yet received their poll cards should call the Election Hotline 2891 1001.

Electors have also been sent an appeal letter by the Returning Officer in their respective constituency, a map of their designated polling station, a guide to voting, an Independent Commission Against Corruption leaflet on clean elections and a leaflet introducing the candidates.

The candidates

The four candidates contesting the Fort Street Constituency by-election are administrative executive Chris Wong of the Democratic Party, lawyer Barry Chin of the Hong Kong Civic Association, school teacher Hung Lin-cham of the Democratic Alliance for Betterment of Hong Kong, and independent Chu Hon Wah.

About 7,300 registered electors can vote at the polling station at Kiangsu and Chekiang Primary School, 30 Ching Wah Street, North Point.

The four Nam Cheong Central candidates are social worker Ngai Sing-leuk, public transport worker Cheung Chi-keung of the Association for Democracy & People's Livelihood, barrister Raymond Cheung of the Democratic Alliance for Betterment of Hong Kong, and

political organisation executive Foo Wai-lok of the Frontier.

About 5,700 registered electors can vote at the polling station at Pei Ho Street Sports Centre, Ki Lung Street, Sham Shui Po.

Polling stations will open from 7.30am to 10.30pm. After the close of the poll, they will be used as counting stations.

The successful candidates will fill one vacant seat in the Eastern District Council and another in the Sham Shui Po District Council.
