Work on New Territories matters pledged

CE meets Heung Yee Kuk members
Useful exchange: Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa exchanges views with Heung Yee Kuk Chairman Lau Wong-fat and representatives.

Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa says the Government will continue to work with the Heung Yee Kuk and explore long-term solutions to matters of concern to New territories residents.

 

Following the meeting with Heung Yee Kuk representatives last month, Mr Tung met Kuk Chairman Lau Wong-fat and representatives today to further exchange views on matters relating to the New Territories.

 

At the meeting, Mr Tung expressed his support and affirmed the Kuk's work.

 

"I am very concerned about matters relating to the New Territories. The Government will continue to work with the Kuk to study ways to find long-term solutions to matters of concern to residents of the New Territories," he said.

 

Kuk Vice-chairmen Daniel Lam and Cheung Hok-ming, and co-opted councilor Li Kwok-ying also attend today's meeting.
