7 appointed to Police watchdog
*

Six incumbent members have been re-appointed and seven new vice-chairmen and members appointed to the Independent Police Complaints Council for a two year-term.

 

The re-appointed members are Edgar Kwan, Professor Daniel Shek, Dr Shum Ping-shiu, Hui Yung-chung, Edward Pong and Professor Tsou Ka-yin.

 

Of the seven new appointments, Alan Leong, Daniel Lam and Dr Lui Ming-wah are now vice-chairmen, while Dr Lo Wing-lok, Yeung Yiu-chung, Dr Tse Tak-fu and Priscilla Wong are members.

 

The council, comprising a chairman, three vice-chairmen, 14 non-official members and the Ombudsman, is an independent civilian body responsible for monitoring and reviewing the investigation of complaints against the Police.

 

Council chairman is Ronny Wong, while other existing non-official members are Daniel Cham, Dr Charles Koo, Vivien Chan and Dr Michael Tsui.

 

The appointments will be gazetted on January 7.
