New manpower development advisers named
*

Eleven members have been re-appointed and eight new members were appointed to the Manpower Development Committee for a term of two years with effect from January 1, 2005. The committee is chaired by Secretary for Education and Manpower Professor Arthur Li.

Established in October 2002, the committee advises the Government on Hong Kong's manpower needs, vocational training and retraining, post-secondary and continuing education, as well as the setting up of a qualifications framework and its associated quality assurance mechanism.

The Education and Manpower Bureau says the committee has enabled the Government to adopt a more systematic and participatory approach to manpower planning and development, which is more responsive to the changing needs of Hong Kong's social and economic development.

Membership of the committee comprises key stakeholders including employers, employees, training providers, academics, professional bodies and the Government.
