Four new members have been appointed to the Consumer Legal Action Fund four a two-year term while five existing members have been re-appointed.
The new members are Anita Ma, Cecilia Woo, Dr Yu Wing-tong and Samuel Chan. Those re-appointed are Prof Johannes Chan, Priscilla Wong, Prof Anthony Cheung, Dr Elizabeth Shing and Pamela Chan.
The Government thanked the re-appointees for agreeing to continue to serve on the management committee, and expressed confidence the new members will enable the committee to continue to provide invaluable contribution to the fund's operation.
The Government also expressed its gratitude to outgoing members Benjamin Yu, Tim Lui, Vincent Lo and Prof Japhet Law, for their contributions.
The Consumer Legal Action Fund was established in 1994 to provide assistance to consumers in taking legal action against unscrupulous traders.
The Consumer Council is the Fund's trustee. The management committee assists the council in managing the fund and determining the eligibility of the applications under the fund.
