Wilfred Wong continues to head welfare body

The Government has re-appointed Wilfred Wong as the chairman of the Social Welfare Advisory Committee for a term of two years.

 

Six new members, Quentin Fong, Herman Hui, Dr Benjamin Lai, Vincent Lo, Tung Chi-fat and Lisa Yip, have been appointed for a term of two years.

 

Four incumbent members have been re-appointed. Among them, Cheung Ang Siew-mei, Dr Stephen Chow and Keith Lam are appointed for a term of two years. Dr Leung Cho-bun is re-appointed for a term of one year.

 

All the appointments will take effect from December 1.

 

Secretary for Health, Welfare & Food Dr York Chow welcomed the appointment of the new members and the re-appointment of the chairman and incumbent members.  He looked forward to their contribution to the development of welfare policy issues.

 

Dr Chow also thanked the five outgoing members - Vivien Chan, Dr Darwin Chen, Wilfred Lee, Poon Huen-wai and Stephen Yau - for their contribution to the work of the committee during their term of appointment.

 

The functions of the Social Welfare Advisory Committee are to keep social welfare services under continuous review, and to advise the Government on all matters of social welfare policy.
