Gov't to file appeal over court judgment
*
Joseph Wong
Review call: Secretary for the Civil Service Joseph Wong announces the appeal.
*

The Government will lodge an appeal to the Court of Final Appeal seeking an early review of the Court of Appeal's ruling today in favour of two civil servants opposing salary cuts through legislation.

Secretary for the Civil Service Joseph Wong said the decision to appeal was made after a careful study of the judgment, and the considerable public importance of the case.

The appeal against the Court of First Instance ruling for judicial review of the Public Officers Pay Adjustment Ordinance was allowed by a majority of the Court of Appeal.
