The Chief Executive has reappointed Justice Lugar-Mawson of the Court of First Instance chairman of an Insider Dealing Tribunal division until August 30 next year.

The Court of First Instance's Deputy Judge Saunders has been appointed chairman of a new tribunal division until October 31, 2006. He has also been appointed a temporary member to act in place of Justice Lugar-Mawson as tribunal chairman of the Gilbert Holdings Inquiry.

The Financial Services & the Treasury Bureau said the appointments will help maintain the efficient inquiry into suspected insider dealing cases which hurt investors' interests and damage Hong Kong's reputation as an international financial centre. The Government is determined to combat the problem to maintain a fair and open financial market.

There are three chairmen responsible for different divisions of the tribunal - Justice Lugar-Mawson, Justice Yam and Justice McMahon.
