Celebrate HKSAR's 7th birthday on Thursday

*

The public are welcome to join celebrations marking the seventh anniversary of the HK Special Administrative Region on July 1.

A flag raising ceremony will be held at Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai at 8am. Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa will join about 3,000 guests at the ceremony.

Four large screens will be set up to facilitate public viewing of the ceremony where the Police band and a choir will be performing, followed by the disciplined services sea parade and fly-by.

In view of expected hot conditions and the approach of Typhoon Mindulle, people should check weather forecasts for the day. For the latest weather forecasts, click here. For precautions against heat stroke, click here.

Golden Bauhinia Square and its vicinity will be designated a secure zone by Police to ensure smooth running of the ceremony. Only holders of valid passes can enter.

Mr Tung will later attend a reception at the Convention & Exhibition Centre. About 1,100 guests, including executive councillors and legislators, consular corps, heads of missions, senior Government officials and members of various community sectors have been invited.
