Twenty-two Government officials will visit Melbourne from June 7 to June 11 to experience the Australian approaches and practices in using public private partnerships to deliver services to the community.
Led by Director of Highways Mak Chai-kwong, the group comprises directorate grade officers and senior professionals from 17 policy bureaux and departments.
Participants will meet with Victorian State government officials and private-sector participants involved in the projects.
The Victorian State Government has taken the lead in developing a public private partnerships programme that is recognised internationally.
Civil servants to participate in two-day course
In the first two days, they will attend a tailor-made course run by Melbourne University Private to prepare civil servants involved in considering and planning public private partnerships projects, as well as assessing bids and monitoring implementation of contracts.
In the following days, the participants will visit a range of public private partnerships facilities including a court, a film and TV studio complex, prisons, hospitals, fresh/waste water treatment projects and a station redevelopment project.
While in Melbourne, Mr Mak will address a reception on June 8 to be attended by government officials, academics and business people interested in Hong Kong.
