Senior Gov't appointments announced

 

Five senior Government appointments were announced today.

 

Hong Kong's Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organisation Joshua Law will become Permanent Secretary for Environment, Transport & Works (Transport), and be replaced at the WTO by outgoing Permanent Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury (Financial Services) Tony Miller.

 

Director-General of Trade & Industry Kevin Ho will assume Mr Miller's current post, and will in turn be replaced by Deputy Secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology (Commerce & Industry) Raymond Young.

 

Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary for Environment, Transport & Works (Works) Keith Kwok will become Permanent Secretary for Environment, Transport & Works (Environment).

Good experience: Joshua Law, Kevin Ho and Keith Kwok are among the new appointments.

Commenting on the appointments, Secretary for the Civil Service Joseph Wong said: "The officers have amassed rich experience in public administration through various postings in their career in the civil service. I have full confidence in their leadership abilities. I am certain they can all lead their teams in their new capacities and make a contribution to the public service."

 

Biographies

* Joshua Law, 46, joined the Government in 1980 and rose to his present rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade A in 2001. He has served in a host of bureaux and departments, and has been in the WTO post since September 2002.

 

* Tony Miller, 54, joined the Government in 1972 and rose to his present rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade A in 1993. He has served in a host of offices, and assumed his present post in July 2002.

 

* Kevin Ho, 55, joined the civil service in 1972 and rose to his present rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade A in 2001. He has served in a host of bureaux and departments, took up his current appointment in October 2002.

 

* Raymond Young, 43, joined the Government in 1982 and rose to his present rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade B1 in 2002. He has served in a host of bureaux and departments, and took up his current position in August 2001.

 

* Keith Kwok, 52, joined the Government in 1974 and rose to his present rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade B1 in 1996. He has served in a host of bureaux and departments, and took up his current appointment in March 2001.
