PLA Navy Task Group leaves HK
Bon voyage: Chief Secretary for Administration Donald Tsang (second left) bids farewell to Vice-Admiral Yao Xingyuan.

The People's Liberation Army Navy Task Group bade farewell to Hong Kong today, winding up their six-day stopover.

 

Chief Secretary for Administration Donald Tsang was at Ngong Shuen Chau Naval Base to see them off this morning.

 

Also attending the farewell ceremony were Central People's Government Liaison Office (HK) Director Gao Siren, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office (HK) Commissioner Yang Wenchang, Guangzhou Military Command Deputy Commander Lieutenant-General Ou Jingu, and HK Garrison Commander Major-General Wang Jitang and Political Commissar Major-General Liu Liangkai.

 

Other Government officials included Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee, Commissioner of Customs & Excise Timothy Tong, Acting Director of Immigration Chow Kwok-chuen, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Tang King-shing.

 

The task group comprised two guided-missile destroyers (Shenzhen and Harbin), four guided-missile frigates (Huaibei, Tongling, Xiangfan and Huaihua) and Submarines 314 and 324.

 

The fleet visited Hong Kong as part of the navy's 55th anniversary celebrations.
