Political and non-political organisations have until April 1 to register their names and emblems with the Electoral Affairs Commission for this year's Legislative Council Election.
Election hopefuls can register their own emblems with the commission.
Organisations should submit their applications with a certificate or document issued to them by the authority that regulates them under the laws of Hong Kong. A person must be a registered elector at the time of submitting the application for registration of their personal emblem.
Processing of applications will take time as rigorous procedures are involved. All screened-out applicants will be given two weeks to clarify or change their applications. Applications will then be gazetted so objections from the public can be made within two weeks. Before the commission decides on applications that are challenged, hearings will be held to canvass views and look into relevant evidence.
Application forms are available at the Registration & Electoral Office and District Offices. They can also be downloaded from the commission's website. Inquiries can be made to the Election Hotline 2891 1001.
