Public Service Commission members named

The Government has appointed Michael Sze and Brian Stevenson and re-appointed Vincent Chow and Wilfred Wong as members of the Public Service Commission for a term of two years with effect from February 1.

 

Mr Sze is the Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. He is now serving as a member of the Hong Kong Logistics Development Council, the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the Trade & Industry Advisory Board and the ICAC Operations Review Committee.

 

Mr Stevenson is a Non-Executive Director of the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, the MTR Corporation and the Securities & Futures Commission. He is also a Steward of the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

 

Mr Chow is the Director and Group General Manager of Chow Sang Sang Holdings International. He is a member of the Council of the City University of Hong Kong and the Trade & Industry Advisory Board, and an Adjudicator of the Panel of Adjudicators (Control of Obscene & Indecent Articles). He has been a member of the Commission since 1998. 

 

Mr Wong is the Vice-Chairman of Shui On Holdings. He is the Chairman of the Social Welfare Advisory Committee, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Hong Kong Baptist University and the Court of the HK Baptist University, and a member of the Council of the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology. He has been a member of the Commission since 2002.

   

Frank Pong retired from the Public Service Commission on February 1 after serving on the Commission for six years.

 

On behalf of the Administration, Secretary for the Civil Service Joseph Wong thanked Mr Pong for his remarkable contribution to the Commission during his tenure.

 

"He has tendered invaluable advice to the Commission in upholding the quality and integrity of the civil service."

 

Mr Wong was also pleased to welcome Mr Sze and Mr Stevenson as new members.

 

"I have no doubt that their expertise and extensive public service experience will contribute to the work of the Commission," Mr Wong added.

 

The Public Service Commission is chaired by Haider Barma. Apart from those mentioned above, the other members are Dr Elizabeth Shing, Eliza Chan and Simon Ip.
