Moreover, the signing of CEPA between Hong Kong and the Mainland has further boosted the economy - and people's confidence.
Call to boost communications, seize opportunities
He hoped the Government will continue to bolster its communication with different sectors of the community and provide better services to the public.
He also called on Hong Kong people to seize the opportunities and capitalise on our advantages so as to further sharpen the city's competitive edge.
On Hong Kong's constitutional development, Mr Hu said the Central Government is highly concerned with the issue, adding that the development should be in line with the Basic Law and a progressive approach should be adopted.
He believed that our community can reach a consensus on the issue.
Mr Tung later called on Premier Wen Jiabao and briefed him on Hong Kong's latest developments.
Mr Wen said when looking at the Hong Kong issue, it should be studied together with the three core principles of One Country, Two Systems; the Basic Law and Hong Kong people ruling Hong Kong.
He called on Hong Kong people to treasure these principles and what we have achieved in the past six years.
He also believed that with the Government's leadership, One Country, Two Systems can be successfully implemented and make Hong Kong a better place to live in.
