Cyber check: Government and District Council officials inspect the latest developments Cyberport.

Hong Kong's District Councils have played an active role in enhancing public hygiene awareness and worked hard to boost environmental friendliness to help promote local-community economies during the SARS outbreak.

This was the message from Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Shelley Lee during a visit to Cyberport today.

Thanking District Councillors for their efforts to promote district administration and Government policies, Ms Lee said they have been very supportive and done a lot to improve community well-being.

Meanwhile, Ms Lee and Director of Home Affairs Pamela Tan, along with District Council chairmen and vice-chairmen, were briefed on the progress of Cyberport, an important information technology infrastructure project in Southern district.

Today's visit was the last of a series arranged for council chairmen and vice-chairmen to inspect major infrastructure developments before council operations are suspended on October 2.
