Sydney synergy: New South Wales Attorney-General Bob Debus welcomes Secretary for Constitutional Affairs Stephen Lam to Sydney.

The Australian Government and business leaders are very interested in the opportunities Hong Kong will offer once the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement with the Mainland is concluded.

Ending his Australian visit today, Secretary for Constitutional Affairs Stephen Lam said opinion leaders in the country also welcome the decision taken by Hong Kong to withdraw and reconsider the national security legislation.

He said Australia has shown a keen interest in Hong Kong's constitutional developments beyond 2007 and appreciate it is for the community to build a consensus on the way forward.

Mr Lam today met with New South Wales' Attorney-General Bob Debus, Bar Association President Bret Walker, and Chinese Consul General Liao Zhi Hong in Sydney.
