Hong Kong people should be united in the SARS fight, Vice-Premier and Health Minister Wu Yi says, adding that she has asked the World Health Organisation to lift its travel warning.
At the annual World Health Assembly in Geneva, Ms Wu said she raised the travel warning issue with the WHO's Director-General Dr Harlem Brundtland and the organisation has agreed to consider the request carefully.
Speaking to the media, Ms Wu said the number of new SARS cases in Hong Kong has dropped to a very low level.
Noting that tourism plays an important role in Hong Kong's economic development, Ms Wu said the organisation should lift its travel warning as soon as possible.
Endorsing Hong Kong's efforts in containing SARS, Ms Wu called on its people to unite and give full support to the Government, which will give it extra confidence to do a better job.
Ms Wu also met with Secretary for Health, Welfare & Food Dr Yeoh Eng-kiong and was briefed on the latest SARS situation in Hong Kong.
