Meeting on Golden Week visitors held
Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Rosanna Law today hosted a meeting to co-ordinate the preparations for visitor arrivals to Hong Kong during the Mainland’s Chinese New Year Golden Week from January 28 to February 4.
Miss Law told the meeting that the central government’s resumption and expansion of the multiple-entry Individual Visit Scheme for Shenzhen residents enables more Mainland travellers to visit Hong Kong, and the Government estimates a notable increase in visitor arrivals during the CNY Golden Week.
She added that the Government encourages the trade to provide more high-quality and innovative experiences to visitors in order to attract them to stay overnight.
Relevant parties will continue to maintain close communication before the Mainland’s CNY Golden Week to plan and take forward preparations in various areas for welcoming visitors to Hong Kong.
They will also make timely reports on the latest situation to the interdepartmental working group on festival arrangements chaired by the Chief Secretary.
The meeting was attended by representatives from Police, Customs, the Immigration and Transport departments, district offices as well as tourism-related organisations, major tourist attractions and the hotel industry.
