HZMB permit applications open

January 6, 2025

The Transport Department today announced that 1,000 regular permits for Hong Kong cross-boundary non-commercial private cars using the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) to travel to Macau are open for applications from January 13 to 24.

Of these permits, 500 are for company applicants, while the rest are for individual applicants. They will be valid for no more than three years until March 30, 2028.

All eligible parties may apply for the permits, except for holders of existing permits launched in April, September or November of 2023, or in July or October of 2024.

Successful applicants are expected to be able to travel between Hong Kong and Macau via the HZMB starting from March 31 of this year at the earliest.

The company permits are open to companies registered in both Hong Kong and Macau, or companies registered in Hong Kong that are associated with another company that is registered in Macau.

The permits for individuals are open to Hong Kong permanent residents who are employed in Macau, or who have established a registered company in Macau.

Eligible parties can apply for the permits through the GovHK website until 5.15pm on January 24.
