GBA youth job plan launched
The Labour Department today announced the launch of the 2025 Greater Bay Area (GBA) Youth Employment Scheme, as well as enhancements to the scheme and to the Youth Employment & Training Programme (YETP).
The 2024 Policy Address outlined measures to strengthen employment services and support for young people. These included relaxing the eligibility requirements for GBA Youth Employment Scheme from this year to allow anyone aged 29 or below with sub-degree or higher qualifications to join it.
The limit of the monthly allowance granted to enterprises is increased to $12,000 for a period of up to 18 months.
The upper age limit for participants in the YETP is also raised to 29 and workplace attachment opportunities in the GBA under the programme will be introduced to enhance the employability of youngsters involved and to promote their development.
Additionally, the Government will launch new Arrangements for Mainland Youth to Work in Hong Kong under the GBA Youth Employment Scheme. Starting this year, enterprises which have participated in the scheme and employed young Hongkongers in GBA Mainland cities may apply to employ the same number of Mainland youths in Hong Kong.
