The Department of Health today alerted the public to fraudulent advertisements published on social media and online platforms regarding medical insurance provided by the Hong Kong Government.

The advertisements, which carry the department’s logo, claim that the Government offers medical insurance for the elderly in Hong Kong.

The department clarified that it has never published, nor authorised the publication of, such advertisements, adding that information contained in the advertisements is false.

Besides reporting the matter to Police, the department urged anyone who has provided personal information to suspicious websites or unknown individuals via the advertisements to also report this to Police.
