e-Licensing Portal launched
The Transport Department today launched the e-Licensing Portal (e-LP), a one-stop service platform which provides convenience for registered vehicle owners and drivers in managing their vehicle and driving licences.
After registering as users via iAM Smart, citizens can enquire at any time about their driving licence, driving entitlements, licence expiry date, driving-offence points, as well as vehicles registered under their name and the expiry dates of relevant licences. They can also choose to receive reminders for vehicle and driving licence renewals.
From now on, Hong Kong identity card holders can use iAM Smart to register as e-LP users, while Non-Hong Kong identity card holders, including companies, organisations, and holders of passports or Exit/Entry Permit for Travelling to & from Hong Kong & Macao, can use a digital certificate or the e-contact means registered with the department to register an e-LP account.
The department highlighted that the e-LP’s reminder function for the renewal of vehicle and driving licences can issue notifications to registered users before expiry, and enable them to renew licences online.
Additional functions of the e-LP will be launched in the second quarter of 2025, the department added. Users will then be able to use an automatic form-filling function to submit online licensing applications, track progress and results, and make online bookings for driving tests. Moreover, information on various types of permits will be available for enquiry.
