Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Rosanna Law today attended a ceremony at the Hong Kong Sports Institute to mark Hong Kong Paralympic Day 2024 and the one-year countdown to the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) (Hong Kong).

The NGD and the NSOG will be co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau from December 8 to 15 next year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Miss Law outlined that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has been taking forward preparatory work for the 15th National Games, the 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG, with the objectives of promoting sports co-operation in the Greater Bay Area and helping to foster the spirit of Chinese sports.

She highlighted that Hong Kong athletes will compete alongside elite national athletes in next year's games, and that Hong Kong people will have the opportunity to watch the events in person.

She expressed confidence that this will promote and enhance sports development in Hong Kong, ignite public passion for sports, and cultivate a “Sport for All” culture.

Elements relating to the 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG were incorporated into the celebration of Hong Kong Paralympic Day.

Members of the public were treated to a showcase of various sports whose events will be hosted in Hong Kong next December. These included boccia, table tennis, wheelchair fencing, and para dance sport.
