The Security Bureau today clarified that the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station is operating normally, after verification with Guangdong's Nuclear Emergency Committee Office.

The bureau made the statement in response to media enquiries about rumours on social media claiming that an explosion had occurred at the nuclear power station.

It stressed that no notification has been received from the relevant Mainland authorities, adding that the rumour is totally groundless and fictitious.

The bureau appealed to the public to pay attention to announcements released through official government channels and should not believe any rumour lightly.
