Oct 1 fireworks to debut drones

September 20, 2024

The 2024 National Day Fireworks Display co-ordinated by the Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau, will light up Victoria Harbour at 9pm on October 1.

With the theme “The splendid fireworks shine over the prosperous China”, a total of 31,888 firing shells will be discharged in the 23-minute display consisting of eight scenes.

The first scene will feature “Red Five-Pointed Stars” and “Purple Five-Petal Flowers” to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Another highlight will be scene five which depicts “Heart to Heart” and “Smiley Face” to symbolise spreading happiness to everyone.

To welcome the new pandas to Hong Kong, the sixth scene will feature green-coloured fireworks, such as “Green Bamboo Leaves”, their favourite food.

Spectators will be in for a big surprise this year, with the addition of drones in the display for the first time. Acting as the prelude to the fireworks, the drone formation will create patterns including “75” and pandas in the night sky.
