The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance caseload rose slightly by 62 cases to 197,771 in August, more or less the same as that of July, the Social Welfare Department announced today.

The total number of recipients was 268,758.

Single parent cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.7% to 19,836. Permanent disability cases fell 0.3% to 16,998, while unemployment cases dipped 0.1% to 16,571.

Meanwhile, ill-health cases registered a 0.5% increase to 28,050. Old age cases rose 0.1% to 110,899, while low-earnings cases were unchanged at 1,467 cases.
