Elderly concession week to be held

September 13, 2024

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Senior Citizen Card (SCC) Scheme and promote a spirit of respect for elderly persons, the Social Welfare Department will hold a concession week from September 20 to 26.

During the concession week, special discounts and privileges provided by local catering and retail firms, as well as other businesses and shops, will be offered to SCC holders as a gesture of respect and care from the community.

More than 300 participating organisations and merchants, comprising around 1,450 outlets in 18 districts across the city will display publicity posters for the concession week.

Card-holders can simply scan the QR code on the publicity poster to learn about participating companies and organisations, and about the special offers available during the concession week.

Launched in 1994, the scheme is aimed at promoting care and respect for the elderly. The cards are issued to Hong Kong residents aged 65 or above, and give them access to discounts and privileges offered by government departments, public organisations and merchants.

The SCC Office has issued over 2.5 million SCCs so far.
