Secretary for Transport & Logistics Lam Sai-hung and members of the Legislative Council Panel on Transport, today continued their visit to Shanghai by touring the Shanghai Hongqiao Comprehensive Transportation Hub.

Comprising of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport terminal, railway stations, long-haul bus stations, transport interchanges and subway stations, the transportation hub handles over a million passengers daily.

Mr Lam and the delegation visited the hub this morning to learn about its operations.

They then met the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission to exchange views on smart mobility and traffic management.

Mr Lam said Hong Kong is studying the construction of a new generation of transport interchange hubs (TIHs) at strategic locations, which will integrate various transport facilities and amenities in a one-stop manner.

TIHs will efficiently gather and disperse passengers and integrate transport with the daily lives and various activities of the public, while driving the development of the neighbouring areas.

Additionally, with frequent exchanges between Shanghai and Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government looks forward to exploring further opportunities to enhance connections and co-operation with Shanghai authorities.

The delegation left Shanghai in the afternoon and will begin their visit to Hangzhou tomorrow.
