September 11, 2024

Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung today encouraged university students to join the Government and build Hong Kong’s future, ahead of an exercise to recruit graduate grade civil servants from Saturday until October 4.

The openings include 50 administrative officers (AOs), 200 executive officers II (EOIIs), three assistant trade officers II and 10 transport officers II.

The recruitment is open to all permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region who meet the relevant entry requirements. Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and graduating in 2025 or 2026 may also apply.

Details of the joint recruitment exercise will be uploaded to the Civil Service Bureau’s website and the government portal GovHK. Information on hiring AOs is also available on another dedicated website.

People who wish to apply for any of the four posts must take the Basic Law & National Security Law Test and attain a pass result in order to be considered for appointment, the Government added.

Applications must be submitted through an online application system or they will not be accepted.

The civil service chief also officiated at the opening ceremony of the Government Career Fair at City University today, launching a series of government career fairs to be held at 10 local universities from mid-September to early October.

Mrs Yeung encouraged university students to join the Government and build Hong Kong's future.

She said as the largest employer in Hong Kong, the Government provides young people with different types and natures of career development opportunities.

Highlighting that the work of the civil service was meaningful and challenging, Mrs Yeung encouraged students interested in pursuing a career in the civil service to first understand their aspirations and interests, and plan early to equip themselves for the application process.

Thirty bureaus and departments took part in today’s career fair that covered over 50 civil service grades, including AO, EOII, government counsel, legal aid counsel, engineering graduate, government chemist, as well as various positions in the disciplined services.

Staff from various government departments answered students’ questions on the spot, while some departments gave careers talks.
