HZMB driving applications reopen
The Transport Department announced today that a quota of 1,000 regular permits for Hong Kong cross-boundary non-commercial private cars using the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) to drive to Macau will open for application from Monday.
On October 23, the 300 Hong Kong permits allocated from October 2021 will expire. The department will reopen this batch for application together with 700 additional permits, in accordance with an arrangement agreed between the governments of Hong Kong and Macau.
Half of the permits are for company applicants and the other half are for individual applicants. They are valid for no more than three years until October 23, 2027.
Those successfully allocated a permit are expected to be able to travel between Hong Kong and Macao via the HZMB from October 24 at the earliest.
The eligibility criteria for applications remain unchanged. Company permits are open for companies registered in both Hong Kong and Macau, or companies registered in Hong Kong that are associated with another company registered in Macau.
The permits for individuals are open to Hong Kong permanent residents employed in Macau or those who have established a registered company in Macau.
Private cars holding valid Hong Kong permits are permitted to access Macau multiple times via the HZMB.
Eligible parties can apply through the GovHK website from September 9 until 5.15pm on September 20.
