John Loung grabs first gold for HK

Chief Executive John Lee and Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung have expressed their heartfelt congratulations to Hong Kong boccia athlete John Loung on winning gold in the Men's Individual BC1 event at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

 

It marks the first gold medal for Hong Kong, China at the 2024 Paralympics.

 

Mr Lee said Mr Loung had demonstrated unwavering determination and superb skills in the competition.

 

“His gold medal is well-deserved. All Hong Kong people and I are thrilled and proud of his outstanding performance.”

 

The Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism meanwhile praised the Hong Kong boccia athlete for his perseverance and strong spirit.

 

Mr Yeung said: “John Loung has won the gold medal and demonstrated his sportsmanship. We are all deeply encouraged by his remarkable achievement.”

 

The Hong Kong, China Delegation's medal tally includes a silver medal won by swimmer Chan Yui-lam in the Women's 100m Butterfly S14 event and a bronze claimed by another swimmer, Ng Cheuk-yan, in the Women's 100m Breaststroke SB6 event.
