CE meets Liaoning official
Chief Executive John Lee today met CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee Secretary Hao Peng at Government House to exchange views on strengthening Hong Kong’s co-operation with the province.
Mr Lee said he welcomed Mr Hao’s visit to Hong Kong with his delegation. Stressing that economic and trade relations between Liaoning and Hong Kong have always been close, the Chief Executive noted that Hong Kong is the largest source of foreign direct investment in the province, with total investment from Hong Kong enterprises exceeding US$115 billion by the end of 2023.
He invited more Liaoning enterprises to continue leveraging Hong Kong’s unique advantages of enjoying the country’s strong support and being closely connected to the world under “one country, two systems”, and to use Hong Kong as a platform to go global and attract foreign investment.
Highlighting that Liaoning has a solid foundation with its steady performance and positive outlook for economic and social development, and that Hong Kong is on a new journey of advancement from stability to prosperity, Mr Lee said that the prospects for co-operation between the two places are broad and promising.
He added that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government values and supports the deepening of exchanges and co-operation between Liaoning and Hong Kong.
The Beijing Office and Liaoning Liaison Unit of the Hong Kong SAR Government will continue to serve as a bridge to promote exchanges between Liaoning and Hong Kong in such areas as trade and the economy, culture and the arts, and youth development, with a view to jointly making greater contributions to the country’s development.
Also attending the meeting were Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki, Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Erick Tsang and Director of the Chief Executive's Office Carol Yip.
