Secretary for Home & Youth Affairs Alice Mak (second right) tours the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Innovation & Entrepreneurship Incubation Base.

Secretary for Home & Youth Affairs Alice Mak today arrived in Guangzhou to attend a meeting on youth entrepreneurship and visit a Greater Bay Area (GBA) entrepreneurship incubation base.

 

Miss Mak took part in the fourth meeting of the Guangdong-Hong Kong task force on youth employment, entrepreneurship and internship this morning.

 

She discussed the promotion of youth entrepreneurship in the GBA, and the strengthening of collaboration on youth innovation and entrepreneurship, with officials from the Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province (GDHKMAO) and the province’s Human Resources & Social Security Department (GDHRSSD).

 

Miss Mak briefed them on the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government’s progress in promoting youth development, and that of various Alliance of Hong Kong Youth Innovation & Entrepreneurial Bases in the bay area.

 

She stressed that the Home & Youth Affairs Bureau will work closely with GDHKMAO and GDHRSSD to give Hong Kong youths comprehensive support in seizing the opportunities brought by the GBA’s development.

 

In the afternoon, Miss Mak and GDHRSSD Director-General Du Mingqi visited the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Innovation & Entrepreneurship Incubation Base, and attended the kick-off ceremony of a youth entrepreneurship event.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, she said the Hong Kong SAR Government attaches great importance to promoting Hong Kong youth entrepreneurship in the bay area.

 

Highlighting that the Funding Scheme for Youth Entrepreneurship in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has nurtured over 200 start-up teams since its launch, Miss Mak urged young entrepreneurs in Hong Kong to explore the huge Mainland market and business opportunities in the GBA.

 

Around 50 youths from Hong Kong joined the event.
